Settling down in JB

Hmm, the first few days were spent in a hotel in Kulai while Irene and I scout for a room to let. It boils down to two choices. Both is also in decent neighborhood.

1. Mutiara Rini
New housing area. Clean and quiet environment. Near to work place, 11km. No jam. Should take around 20minits to reach.
Living room area no sofa or couch or TV. Just an empty area. Kitchen very basic, no fridge.
Toilet is shared attached but clean.
Near to Taman Universiti which has basic amenities nearby. Not so happening.
Cheap rental of RM200.

2. Bukit Indah
Also new housing area. Clean and quiet environment. Further than Mutiara Rini to workplace, 22km. No jam though. Should take around 35minits to reach.
Complete living room setup. Kitchen considered complete. Toilet not attached but will be the sole user, unless got party which is not likely.
Near to happening places and lepak places.
Rental of RM450.

I settled for the Bukit Indah room. At least not so 'bachelor" like how my sis put it. Por chan liau after buying things for the room. Bed-sheets, pillow, mandi things, bersih things. All so mahal siot.
Next time wanna makan also need compete with those sinjiapoh working ppl. So dem.

K la. See how next time.

New Year liau ni

Eh, year 2011 liau ni.
New year liau, Apa boleh buat?

Saw some CNY forecast for CNY. Accidental though. Mentioned a fair bit of not-so-good points.
But the thing is, all the bad points mentioned happened to me last year.

So in theory, and practically, its time for the good things to happen right?
Good!!!!

New job, new career, new house, new car. Seems like a good start!
I mean good start as it seems that all the new things are upgrades, I hope.

The 3rd option

It is never easy being the 3rd option in anything. Third substitute for the 1st 11, car driver, any kind of nominee, or even a job offer.

Again, I rejected the offer to go to Kuching and the Fiji Islands. Although the offer is overwhelming, my current employers managed to convince me to stay, with a lower salary. OMGWTFBBQsauce!!!!??

Well, money isn't the only thing in life, same with career.

100 meter dash

I am wondering.
Since I am at the beginning of this new U-turn, should I do a 100 meter dash?

I did a little dash several years back. A dash which provided me with abundance of opportunities. I squandered them all by not having enough knowledge; and by being naive.

I am now in the position to do another dash. A short dash. I rejected a long dash because my knees are not too good nowadays. Maybe not 100 meter, but I still can afford a 30 meter dash. With enough knowledge, a 30 meter dash will work just fine.

What do you think?

Twisting U-turn

This might seems to be an overdue update from my last post. In reality, it is not. This U-turn I am facing, is quite windy in nature.

The thing is, I do not have the regret-what-if-i-choose-the-other-one syndrome. It is partly because I step on them without looking back on the other. Mainly is because I am walking all three paths, which was not my intention.

You see, I accepted option 1, and was already "working" with the company for a few days before I accept the offer from company B. No salary though, just free services.
I was planning to pledge my loyalty to company B. Looking at long terms seeing the nature of the job. Fairly super stable, decent authority level and freedom, ok-ok pay. The kind of job which will keep you satisfied till retirement, with benefits.

I was not planning to join other companies and rejected calls for interviews. There is one exception - the temptations from company C. They never chuck away my file. They keep making one tempting offers after another.
And they seems sincere. Looks like I will be wearing a new uniform soon.

U-turn

It has been a long crazy journey, and now its time to come back to the drawing board. How to move forward, in terms of my career. It is also odd, and fortunate that 3 offers came up simultaneously. Three of them are of a similar position in different companies.

The 1st one gives the most freedom and authority. I am free to make decisions, almost everything will be completely up to me. Too bad the employer is in a bit (a LOT) of a hurry to get someone in, I had to reject the offer. He couldn't even wait several days for a confirmation. I was 'hired' on the spot and somewhat started working on that day itself. I was waiting for the other two offer/interview.

The 2nd one is with a bigger company, bigger responsibilty but with more restriction on my authority level. But the should be the more glamourous in term of career position level. The money is the same as the 1st offer, not too lucrative. I will have a few months of oversea (India) stint though. Part of the job, part of the company's project.

The 3rd one will be with the most money, around 25% more. Also with some oversea stint (Fiji), but this one is the one with the most restrictions. I am guessing this will be the one with the hardest work of all.

I am now torn between the 2nd and 3rd option. I have to make a decision by the weekend. I am not sure of what I want.
The safer road is to take the 2nd. Long term stability with a slow pace.
The 3rd road will be riskier. Messing up here might practically ruin everything, including career opportunity in the future.
Decisions decisions.......

Busying

Ugh....Been so busy these days. I do hope the taste of labor will be sweet. It is starting to show signs of sweetness..yippee...
But with good fruits, there will be worms/bees/serangga perosaks aiming to take it away from you. I have met not few of them. Haihs. Its not easy to bathe in your own victory huh? If there is any victory to bathe in.

Im hoping to train someone to be on par with my management capability, so that I can have more holidays (more than 1/2 day per month) or rest days. With the existing tasks I am handling, I highly doubt that it will be possible. But I am just one man. Chamness.

I wonder, when will it be a time when I will be truly free.

A certain uncertainty

In the past, I can almost offer anything to the future. Whatever future it may represent. Career, family and everything else in between. It might not be the case now. Everyone have their own shitty times. And I can consider myself lucky that my shitty period is not as shitty as how shitty would be. It is now considered as messy.

It saddens me the most that I cant offer anything to anyone in this very distant future. I wish not to give the wrong perception to anyone. I am capable however, to make things better.

Workplace hazards

I have always imagined how Terengganu and Kelantan will be like when its the monsoon season. Now that I am experiencing it here, it is exactly as how I have imagined. The people here kept saying this year is the worst monsoon hit year, and it was not that bad the previous years.
Yeah right. huhuhuhu

Anyhow, I got to relax around no thanks to the frequent landslide at my workplace. There is even one time when I almost become a statistic contributor. My car was stuck because of the thick flowing mud from the cliff. I had to call for help because barely a meter away from me, is another cliff -> downwards. My car and I are inching towards the fall of the century.

To add to my fear, I am witnessing another landslide, consists of big boulders right in front of me. It was 10 meters in front of me I think. I quickly re-access my situation. I looked up and saw a big tree trunk, waiting to strike me at the right moment. It was resting on a mud hole, waiting it to be filled. I can also see waves of mud washing and rolling down big rocks along the road as if they were pebbles. Chamness.... The terror of nature.
And I am still stuck in my car!!!!!

Alas, my savior came. A wheel loader, pulling my car using a wire-rope. My car almost plunged down the cliff, with me IN it, because the mud is just too thick and slippery. After the loader cleared a path, I quickly took off. Barely minutes later, the big loader was pushed down by the mud......
The terror of the nature...

Career

What if you are offered

  • 50% salary increment
  • Job promotion
  • New exciting role at work
  • New better location (workplace)
  • Extra room for career growth
I assume the last thing you will do is to reject the offer. That was the 1st thing I did. One month ago, I would do anything for this kind of offer. Now is one month too late.
It's strange that I am asked to reconsider the offer. Strange as in - it is a very very good offer, and yet I am offered it twice, even after I rejected it.

I am not sure if I will regret this. Hopefully not. But there is now a path in front of me that I know I should try. To break free from the rat race. If I accepted the above offer, I will still be in the rat race. A bigger rat I will be, but still a rat. A big rat will have bigger problems to escape from the dreadful race.

I just hope my plans work well. Good luck to me!!!!!!

Turn for a positive turn

Hopefully the bad turns are over now.
Confirmed I lost RM 15k. And I shuld've gone back earlier. Turns out that I will lose the 15k even if I have gone back in May, June or even July. Hmmm.
Corporate world. When they need you, everything is ok. When they dont want you anymore, all shits will start to float.
Sacrificing not to go back for CNY surely sucks.

Now that monetary value are lost, Im waiting for the positive turn now. I am guessing windows of opportunity here.
Not sure what type of window though.

Okays, less than a forthnight to go.

Bank Robbers. Me so bahaya

30k oredi kena tembak. I almost everyweek oso go bank tim. Sure evelibadi recognise me liau. Most of the time, I always take out more than 30k. sweat

Actually very easy to target ppl wan. Esp those withdrawing huge sum of mani. The system here oso cacat wan. The ATM oni can withdraw maximum of 3k per week. Even normal ppl oso need to take out more la. Ini pulak business ppl. So, ppl who make huge transactions, and often, surely will be recognise by the local ppl there. And also the bank workers.
So the next time you go there, the locals or the worker can agak you are going to take out a lot of money. The queue to the counter usually takes around 45minutes (yes, dem bodoh). So, they will have plenty of time to prepare and ambush you later.

Very cham lah me.

Flying Rock

Most of the blastings are safe. This is because of the advancement of knowledge and technology in blasting. But then again, not all technology is available for certain countries. Knowledge can be said to be limited to human factor. Trinidad is not really an advance country. They only have materials and methods used in Malaysia (long before I was born) available. Back in those time, blasting can be said to be a lot more "uncontrolled" aka dangerous. Coupled with human limitation, accidents can happen.

The above is the example why it can be dangerous. Most of the time, I prefer to watch a blast from a viewable angle. This is because I will know where the blast will be heading. I know it from the design anyway, so I will know where to stand. If the blast is too big (rarely), I will just go and have tea somewhere - far away.

This time I was in an uncle's car, with him driving. He insisted in parking the car behind a cliff (we were blasting on a location behind the cliff). I told him its not very comforting to have the cliff blocking the view. And we'll never know if a stone might fall. Due to his "manhood" (human nature) and the fact that he is behind the steering wheel, we stayed there. And without me knowing, the drillercum blaster made some holes (horizontal blast - which will send rocks flying), again - human nature.

So the result is as what you see in the photos. One stone fell barely 50 meter away from me. Im not 50meter further, the stone fell parallel to where I am. It could've hit the car straight through the roof and hit people - me. Chamness.
It gone through the roof, damaged an I-Beam, then hit the rubber conveyor and crushing the steel bracket. Energy cushioned so many times yet the damage is quite alarming.

So remember folks. Dont take things, however routine they maybe, so lightly.

Spineless Creature

We have just received our 2 new Frontiers. And the manggali took one for his own. He just park and reserve the whole unit for his own to use. Although he didnt really have a use for it. Unless you include fetching filiphinoes "chicks (aunties really)" and black locals to the office to ahem ahem. So basically leaving us another unit - for the 5 of us.

The 4 of them will need to go to the quarry. They are the wheels of the quarry, and in the quarry their work will be. And I need to go to the office, to collect a cheque. No cheque, no money. Im the authorised signatory for the company (take that u manggali!) so I will be responsible for the finance welfare of the staffs. The office and quarry is not very near each other. In fact, its bloody far.

So, the manggali selfishly park "his" car in the office (his house after i kicked him out from mine), and told me to fetch the 4 to the quarry and leave them there. Leaving them with neither food, transportation, water nor shelther. What kind of idiotic order is that? The country is a raining country. And a dangerous one. What if there's any accident? Call the not reliable ambulance? They dont really know how to anyway. Food? Pluck fruits from the trees? Water from the river? And 3 of them are just here for less than 72 hours. What kind of manager that makes you? A manggali one that is.

So I took the liberty to bring them out to lunch. And let them tag along to the office where I am supposed to collect the cheque.
I dont know how is that being a considerate human being can offend the manggali. Claiming I am going over his head by not following orders, he went berserk and f*8k me. As usual, I just ok, ok, yaya blah blah blah. No point arguing/reasoning with an idiot. Let him assume he is 100% right. I tried arguing/reasoning. But seriously, no point. Idiot = idiot.

Get me real fed up and I'll make my way back to Malaysia. I treat human as human. If you want me to do otherwise. Im so sorry. I didnt choose to come here. My KL boss asked me to come. He treated me not bad. I am merely lending my hand to him. He needs people to be here. So Im not your toy here. Give me trouble, and I will give you some.
